This 3 quarter credit distance/independent learning course is ideally suited for self-motivated educators who embrace learning outside of a traditional classroom/workshop setting. If you need teacher professional development that offers flexibility in location, scheduling or just want an alternative learning environment, than this course is designed for you.
Participants will use the internet to explore the vast array of educational web pages available. A sample list of over 100 web sites will be provided to get you started!
Core requirements for this continuing education course includes:
- A written summary of 20 educational websites
- Brief descriptive papers on your exploration into educational newsgroups and listservs
- A complete lesson plan for your classroom developed from the information found online

"Current Trends in Education" allows you to investigate current, cutting edge educational concepts that are being utilized in classrooms across the world right now!

Participants will utilize a variety of resources (articles, journals, etc.) to examine current educational trends being used in classrooms just like yours. A selection of articles, protocols, and lesson plan formats will be provided to get you started.
Core requirements for this continuing education course includes:
- A written summary of 10 educational articles
- Devlopment of 2 lessons for use in your classroom
- 2 brief reflection papers (1-3 pages in length)
